GREENLEAF GARDEN CLUB COLLECTION
INTRODUCTION
The collection of the Greenleaf Garden Club was originally accessioned into the Flesh Public Library Archives with three acquisitions: November 2, 1989, February 11, 1991 and May 1, 2015.
The collection fills seven Hollinger boxes and one hundred fifty-six individual file folders. The collection covers the years 1955-2016. There are no restrictions on the use of this collection and the literary copyright has been deeded to the public.
SCOPE AND CONTENTS
The Greenleaf Garden Club Collection is divided into twenty series: Membership, Minutes, Committees and Correspondence, Scrapbooks, Programs, and Financial Records 1980-1997; The Alice Gordon Addition-2016 of Photographs, Financial Records, Club Meeting and Program Materials, Ohio Association of Garden Clubs Materials, Miscellaneous, Alice Gordon Materials; The Lois Shroyer Addition-2016 of Greenleaf Garden Club Scrapbook-2001-2015; the Second Alice Gordon Addition of Photographs, Minutes of Club Meetings 1995-2014, Annual Reports, Correspondence, Financial Records, General Document Categories, and Miscellaneous.
SERIES I: MEMBERSHIP – covers names of members, 1955-1979; notes from members nominating a new candidate; acceptance notes from new members and notes denoting resignations from the club. A copy of the Club Constitution is also in this category. Box 1, Files 1-3
SERIES II: MINUTES – covers minutes of meetings held October 19, 1959-June 18, 1985. Box 1, Files 4-7
SERIES III: COMMITTEES AND CORRESPONDENCE – covers names of members of the Civic Beautification Committee from 1966-1983, minutes of their meetings and financial statements are included. Boutiques held by the Club are shown in Plans, Publicity, Final Results and Pictures of same 1965-1977. There are thank-you notes from recipients of the Garden Club’s work, schedules from two Flower Shows and a few Awards as well as a drawing showing a future planting. Box 1, Files 8-13
SERIES IV: SCRAPBOOKS – covers: a pictorial record of the Club Members Projects such as Boutiques and House and Garden Tours, Numerous newspaper clippings and Ribbons won by members, especially at the Miami County Fair Flower Shows. This all runs from February 24, 1955-June 17, 1989. There are 224 photographs. Box 2, Files 1-3

HISTORY
The Greenleaf Garden Club was organized February 1955. It became affiliated with the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs, Region t. Meetings were held the third Monday of the month at 1:30 p.m. English ivy was donated as the club flower; the bluebird, the club bird and the club aim was to promote interest in all phases of gardening.
Members were ladies who cultivated a garden of their own and showed an active interest in civic gardening. The first roster of officers elected were:

1 French Park – four 4” x 6” color photographs of a tree planted by the Green Leaf Garden Club – On Arbor Day, 2008, the club planted two trees at French Park, a Schubert Cherry and a Red Dogwood. The following club members are pictured in the photos: Ruth Cameron, Shauna Busnell, Karen McNeil, Mary Janes, Peg Brading, Chris Schmidt, Jolaine Routson, ___(park maintenance man), Betty Thompson, Bob Graeser (Piqua Tree Committee).

6 Treasurer’s Report Book pages listing revenue and expenses by month from February 1985 to September 1989. Thirty-six 4 ¼” x 7 ¼” pages punched for a small 3-ring binder.
7 Treasurer’s Account Journal recording all transactions by date of transaction between September 26, 1989 and May 2003. This record was kept on 8” x 5” account paper listing the date, items, debits, credits, and balance. There are 36 sheets. of which 8 are written on both sides.
