THE PIQUA DAILY CALL PHOTOGRAPH COLLECTION #2

INTRODUCTION & HISTORY

The Piqua Daily Call Photograph Collection #2 fills 14 photographic boxes,

with 884 files, and approximately 10,000 pictures between the dates of February 1962 and 1992.  Most of the pictures are negatives.  They were used by the Piqua Daily Call in publication, and were donated to the Flesh Public Library in April, 1995.  This collection was processed and added to the Flesh Public Library’s Archives in November, 2005. There are no restrictions on the use of this collection.

The collection contains mostly photo negatives.  Where positive prints exist there is a notation in the file description.  The early negatives are 4”x 5” and 2½” x 2½”.  Later negative are 35 mm.  The vast majority of the negatives are black and white.  A few color negatives and prints are in the collection and a very few color slides and transparencies.  The primary photographer in this collection is David Fogt.  In the 1970’s James DeWeese was employed as a reporter and photographer.  Other photographers in the 1970’s were Barnhorst, Householder, Lewis, Minnich, Short and Wright.  Some of these such as Gloria Minnich were reporters who on occasion took a camera with them and took photographs to support their stories.  Others like Short were employed as stringers to cover and take photographs of sporting events.  Where possible the photographers are identified with their photographs in the Container List.
